How Wigs Are Making It Easier To Experiment With Your Personal Style

Trying a Different Hairstyle Without the Commitment

Sometimes you just fancy looking a bit different. It might be for a wedding or a night out, or you might simply be bored of doing your hair the same way every morning. That doesn’t mean you’re ready to book a dramatic haircut.

A wig gives you the chance to try a different look for a day and see how you feel in it. You can go shorter, add some volume or try a texture that would take rather more effort to achieve with your own hair.

Start With Something You’d Actually Wear

It’s easy to be drawn to a style that looks lovely in a photograph, but think about where you plan to wear it. Would you feel comfortable in it for a whole afternoon? Does it work with the clothes you already own? If it’s for an event, it’s worth trying it on with your outfit beforehand, when you’ve got time to change your mind.

If you’re new to wigs, a style fairly close to your usual hair can be an easier place to start. You can always try something bolder next time. I’ve shared more practical things to think about in my guide to choosing a natural-looking wig that’s comfortable all day.

Try a Different Length or Texture

A new hair colour or a short cut can be a big decision when you’re the one who has to live with it afterwards. Trying a wig first lets you see how a style looks on you without making that commitment.

There are plenty of options if you want to explore different lengths and shapes. For example, UNice lace wigs include styles you could try for an occasion or simply because you fancy a change.

Texture makes a difference too. Waves can give a familiar outfit a different feel, especially if you normally wear your hair straight. Wet and wavy lace front wigs are another option if you’d like to try more movement and volume without spending ages styling your own hair.

Getting Ready for an Occasion

Weddings are one of those times when you might want to make a bit more effort than usual. I’ve spent plenty of time thinking about the cake, including this forget-me-not wedding cake, but what to wear as a guest can take some planning too. Trying a different hairstyle is one way to make an outfit feel special.

The same goes for a birthday celebration. You might be making an ultimate chocolate birthday cake for the party and still want a little time to get yourself ready. A wig you’ve already tried on can make that part of the day simpler.

Give Yourself Time to Get Used to It

If you’re planning to wear a wig to a wedding or party, I wouldn’t leave the first try-on until you’re about to go out of the door. Put it on at home, see how it feels and try it with the rest of your outfit. Sometimes a small adjustment makes all the difference; sometimes you realise you’d prefer a different style altogether.

There’s no rule that says you have to completely reinvent your look. You might find a style you love for special occasions, or just enjoy trying something different now and then. Either way, it’s nice to have the choice.
