Terry's Chocolate Orange Brownies

What do you serve when the ladies are coming round in less than an hour? Dense and delicious Terry’s Chocolate Orange Brownies are the ideal quick bake.

Now because I needed the brownies to be ready to eat within an hour and didn’t want ‘The Ladies’ (according to Violet) to be dealing with crumbly, disintegrating brownies, I kept them in the oven for an extra 2 minutes – They were still lovely and soft & fudgy but not sloppy in the centre. If you like your brownies, super fudgy and can deal with the fallout, then only cook for 20 mins.

Chocolate Orange Brownies

Needlesstosay, these Brownies were very moreish – I’m not normally one for downing several pieces of brownies at a time but the addition of the orange flavour rendered these irresistible. Just as well really, as after all that trouble, I forgot to serve the blasted Brownies to the ‘Ladies’ and we ended up eating them all!

INGREDIENTS

  • 200g Butter
  • 100g Milk Chocolate
  • 100g Dark Chocolate
  • 1 Medium Orange (Zest & Juice)
  • 100g Caster Sugar
  • 4 Medium Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 50g Cocoa Powder
  • 130g Plain Flour
  • 125g Terry’s Chocolate Orange Segment Bag

DIRECTIONS

1.
Preheat the oven to 175C and line a square (9″) baking tray with baking parchment. I use my silicone one which is perfect for brownies
2.
In a medium pan, melt the butter and the chocolate. Once melted, remove from the heat
3.
Using an electric whisk, beat the eggs until pale and fluffy (should double in size) – Add the sugar a tbsp at a time whilst still whisking
4.
Gently fold in the cooled butter and chocolate mixture.
5.
Add the orange zest & juice, cocoa powder & flour whilst still very gently folding
6.
Pour into the baking tray and gently pop a Terry’s Chocolate Orange Segment at regular intervals – try to space them out so when cut , each slice of brownie will have its own segment
7.
Bake for 20 mins (according to your preference – see note in post above)
8.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the baking tray. Cut into segments and devour. Can be stored in an air tight tin but best eaten the same day

Ooh they sound fabulous Helen, you just can’t beat chocolate orange flavour. I think I would have conveniently forgotten to have shared them with the ‘ladies’ 😉
