Superman Cake

Happy 35th Birthday to Christopher! This Superman cake is for a very special family who are experiencing the toughest of times but managing to smile through it. My friend, Becky explains more about what they are going through on her blog, Diary of Fat Bottomed Girl (She hasn’t got a fat bottom, not that I’ve looked … oh you know what I mean).

When I knew I was making a cake for Chris, I knew straightaway that it would be a Superman theme. I love the bright colours that can be adapted for children or adults. Super hero cakes are brilliant fun to create. The badge is made using sugar paste which took forever to cut out but was so much fun. The 35 numbers are polystyrene covered with fondant icing and masses of blue glitter, which sadly don’t show up on the picture.

I hope the cake helped the birthday celebrations at the weekend – I certainly enjoyed making it for such a special family x
