We first got a Pressure Cooker when we got married. In fact, we got 2. If I’m completely honest though, they scared me to death. I’m the daughter of a pressure cooker devotee and was left ‘in charge’ several times as a teen probably for no more than a minute or two. I think I’d talked myself into how dangerous a pressure cooker could be & knew never to let it cook on pressure for too long. So what happened to the pressure cookers we received as wedding gifts? I gave them to my mum!
Its been a few weeks now since we were sent our own Pressure King Pro for review. There have been so many times over the years, that I’ve wished for a pressure cooker. Cooking for a family that it constantly hungry is no fun when you get in from the school run & want something hot & nutritious in minutes. Try as I might, I cannot get potatoes to cook quick enough for the masses.
The main difference between the Pressure King Pro and the old fashioned pressure cookers is that your settings are digital. There’s no guess work involved – the buttons tell you exactly how long it should take for something to cook and count down. No standing around to turn off the pressure cooker when it comes up to pressure.
Using the Pressure King Pro
There are so many settings – you can apparently cook a whole chicken in the Pressure King Pro, which we hope to test out soon. We particularly love the ease of the one pot – you can brown your meat and soften your onions in the pot before setting it off under pressure.
Should the Release Valve be so wobbly?
Yes, it should. We kept thinking we hadn’t attached it correctly as a couple of times the cooker didn’t come up to pressure. As long as you turn the valve to closed BEFORE you close the lid, it will work perfectly.
Cleaning the Pressure King Pro
Really easy – We have been using it for a few weeks now and the inner pot is still in mint condition. Hot soapy water will easily get rid of any leftover food residue.
The steam tray and the measuring spoon are equally easy to clean too.
Storing the Pressure King Pro
We keep our in a kitchen cupboard – I like that all the parts can be stored inside it and the lid fits with everything inside.
What have we cooked?
LOADS! We have made several soups & stews (as you will find out from the video). You get a recipe booklet with the Pressure King Pro which has over 50 meal ideas. These range from rice dishes, pasta, curries, dumplings, stews and casseroles & joints of meat. Some of the time savings on the meat joints are incredible – We are trying pulled pork this weekend which is expected to take just 1 hour (as opposed to my traditional recipe which takes 8 hours!)
Having an athlete in the house (who happens to be a fussy teenager too), I am constantly aware that we need tasty, filling meals that suit everyone’s palate but are healthy too. Casseroles & Stews are just perfect – we can bulk them up with carbs but make sure that everyone is getting their veg allowance at the same time. The recipe above is a Simple Beef Stew – Perfect for all of the family. Recipe can be found at the bottom of the page.
Has anything not worked?
Not so much didn’t work but not sure we would do Sausage & Mash all in one again. We completely loved the mash and cannot imagine cooking the potatoes any other way from now on. We weren’t so keen on the sausages being cooked in their own juices in tin foil – We ended up browning them after they were cooked and would probably just grill them in future.
Should I buy one? Where from?
Well we highly recommend the Pressure King Pro. I’ve wanted a multi cooker for quite some time & this comes in so handy. It has a ‘Keep Warm’ function that can keep food warm for 24 hours – 24 hours!! I’m not sure we would ever be patient enough to wait that long but what a fantastic function.
We were kindly sent the Pressure King Pro courtesy of ao.com who have them in stock currently for £69.
We have made a short video giving a tour around the Pressure King Pro – assisted by my willing helpers, of course! Hope you like it:

I have the old fashioned pressure cooker that I use a lot as I cook a lot of pulses but I would most certainly love to have this new digital design in my kitchen.
An amazing review and such a great recipe too. thanks for sharing 🙂 x
I’ve never used a pressure cooker – think, like you, I’d be a bit scared! But this recipe sounds delicious x
Having the digital settings must make a huge difference, I know this would put me off if I didn’t have them x

A pressure cooker is something I have been contemplating getting for myself. It would be so convenient to be able to make meals in such a short amount of time. The Pressure King Pro looks like a fantastic pressure cooker and it doesn’t sound as scary or difficult to operate as I might have thought.
The pressure cooker sounds like a great way of getting food cooked without much fuss. I need one x
I love using pressure cookers!! This is a particularly good one and its great that there are so many options with it!
I always thought they’d cost a lot more. What a great price point. I have considered one before but I have no idea where I’d put it.
