The secret to these is freeze your Creme Eggs. It also stops me eating them before I get chance to bake with them too!
After the success of my Creme Egg Cheesecake, I decided this year's Creme Egg bake would be Cadbury's Creme Egg Brownies.
I used 2 packs of Mini Cadbury's Creme Eggs - Normally 8 eggs in each packet plus an extra bag for nibbling on whilst photographing and for staging.
Cadbury's Creme Egg Brownies
Serves | 8+ |
Prep time | 20 minutes |
Cook time | 25 minutes |
Total time | 45 minutes |
Meal type | Dessert, Snack |
Misc | Child Friendly, Pre-preparable, Serve Cold |
Occasion | Birthday Party, Casual Party, Easter, Valentines day |
Ingredients
- 16 Mini Cadbury's Creme Eggs
- 200g Butter
- 100g Dark Brown Chocolate (I use 90% cocoa - Broken into small chunks)
- 100g Milk Chocolate (I used 60% cocoa -Broken into small chunks)
- 100g Caster Sugar
- 4 Medium Eggs
- 50g Cocoa Powder
- 130g Plain Flour
Directions
1. | |
At least 12 hours before baking, unwrap the mini Creme Eggs and freeze in a small plastic freezer proof tub
2. | |
Next day, line a 9" square cake tin - I find silicone trays best for making brownies - Preheat the oven to 175C
3. | |
Remove the Creme Eggs from the freezer
4. | |
In a medium pan, melt the butter and the chocolate - As soon as melted, remove from the heat
5. | |
Using an electric whisk, beat the eggs until fluffy and add the sugar slowly
6. | |
Pour the cooled butter/chocolate mix into the egg mixture and fold gently
7. | |
Continue folding while you gradually add a tbsp of flour/cocoa powder
8. | |
Pour into the baking tray and insert the Creme Eggs at regular intervals - press them as far down into the mixture as you can
9. | |
Bake for 25 minutes and remove from the oven - Allow to cool in the tin
10. | |
Chop into even sized squares and serve with extra Creme Eggs chopped into halves |
Bake of the Week is back from its mini break (You noticed it had one?) Thanks as usual to everyone who took part - I really do love visiting and sharing all of your bakes. Everyone is welcome to join in, you don't have to bake every week - just enter when the mood takes you. There are no themes, just anything that is cooked in an oven or slow cooker is part of the gang.
I couldn't choose between my 2 favourite bakes from the entries. The standard of bread making blew me away - I've talked before about bread being my nemesis, although it is getting better.
Therefore, my featured bakes are Gluten Free Brown Bread from the Gluten Free Alchemist and Spelt Quinoa Loaf from Only Crumbs Remain. Guys, you amaze me!
1. Some super tips for following a vegan diet in this post from The Veg Space aswell as this fabulous Vegan Victoria Sponge
2. Beautiful and one of my favourites, Coffee & Walnut Cake from ET Speaks From Home
3. I forget about the joy of baking in paper, this Pappardelle & Mushroom En Papillotte from Only Crumbs Remain brings it all back.
4. Utterly stunning, Vegan Chocolate Orange Macarons from Only Crumbs Remain
Bake of the Week will be back next WEDNESDAY with a roundup and a new recipe. Please add the badge below to any posts that you link up. If you get chance to visit any of the other entries, leave a comment and let them know you called. We all love comments!

Oh man! These look amazing Halen! I have to agree with you that it's a pre-requisite to have a spare bag of mini crème eggs to graze upon as you bake - it's just gotta be done!
Thank you so much for including my Spelt & Quinoa bread in your roundup.

this looks delicious but probably several zillion calories. I know my family would love this so may have to make this.

Wow, if I made my husband these for Easter I don't think he'd ever stop kissing me. They look so good, what a great idea. xxx
I always wondered how magical Pinterest bakers bake with crime eggs without them turning into goo! x
They look wonderful. My family would love these

Woaw, that is rather decadent, but I have to admit - I can't face another Creme Egg - and its not even Easter yet. I will just admire these brownies from afar
I need these brownies in my life! I'm not a huge fan of Creme Eggs on their own but the second they're baked into something I cannot resist!
Wow these loook so good Helen! Loving your photos and am a big fan of Creme eggs. Haven't found time to link to anything recently so I hope to start doing so again right now - off to add badge etc X
Those bownies look amazing! I'll have a couple of batches please!
Thanks so much for featuring my GF loaf..... We are still loving it. I hope other people enjoy it too!
OHMYWORD — these look absolutely divine!!! I'm a sucker for cream-eggs although found out recently that, as they contain real egg white, one of my sons won't be able to have them as he's got an egg allergy!!
All the more for me then 😉
