A really time consuming cake, this one. I struggled for inspiration for how to create an office scene and came up with a polystyrene desk and stool. There were so many little bits that I wanted to add once I got going – the little glasses, a cup of tea (I always like my figures to be doing something rather than sitting there empty-handed) and an empty IN tray.
I’m not sure what has happened to the wording on this cake – I can promise it wasn’t wonky in real life! Some good news too – our camera has come back from being mended today! Hurrah, no more phone pics.
This is my Auntie Linda’s 60th birthday cake – she also retires at the end of September.
I’m going to have to get my thinking cap on for this Tuesday when my Mum retires – She’s already had cupcakes for the office but I’m thinking a nice fruit cake for when we can have daytime brews now!
There were some lovely entries in last week’s Cake of the Week.
A fabulous Batman Cake from Jane at MoreCakesPlease
and a Guiness Cake from Jackie Marum at JackieCakeStop
I’d love some more people to join in this week. Don’t forget they don’t have to be decorated cakes – disasters, cake recipes and mini cakes are all welcome.
Fabulous. I’d love to receive a cake like this when I retire! Not for some time I hasten to add ๐
Thank You – I hope someone makes you one. Personally, I was born to be retired – got sooo many plans!
Fabulous cakes, I’m just amazed at all your creativity. Your retirement one must have been so much appreciated.
Thank you – I think she liked it *starts worrying in case she didn’t* ๐
Fantastic, I love the detail on the desk, its brilliant, all the little bits are what make it !!! a woman after my own heart ๐
Ah but don’t the little details take FOREVER!?!
