Inspiration took a bit longer than usual to come for this cake. I know Chris very well as he is engaged to my sister so knew there were so many things I could choose from to put on his cake. He loves football, music and loads more but most of all loves coffee.
My sister tells me that in 2.5 years she has never known Chris not have an espresso when he comes home from work. Just this week he has bought a new coffee maker which takes coffee pods similar to the one on top of the cake. So an idea was born!
The mini espresso cups are mini coffee cakes and a joy to make (Tutorial coming soon). I do not have an edible printer any more so I had to paint freehand the pattern on the top of the cake – bit nervewracking!
We presented Chris with his cake last night at a lovely meal to celebrate his 30th complete with a firework candle.
