40thn Black White Spotty Bling Cake

Happy 40th Birthday to my lovely friend, Amanda! How I kept this cake a secret from her for so long, I have no idea. I couldn’t even tell my kids who it was for as the temptation for them to tell Amanda’s children would have been way too much.

I made this cake back in December but thought it special enough to share for the first Bake of the Week of the year. I can imagine that having a December birthday is ultra tough – Yep, the shops are full of lovely stuff for presents but try to get people together for a night out or a meal booking is nigh on impossible. I wanted to make this cake totally Christmas free so went with a black & white spotty theme. Spookily enough, when I went round on Friday to deliver it, Amanda’s husband had also bought black & white spotty balloons! Ooh!

The diamante cake topper was so heavy but really effective with the black feathers – Its difficult to see them with the black background. A real show stopper, I hope you’ll agree!

What a beautiful cake! I think its nice that you stayed away from any Christmas colours, I can imagine a December birthday gets swallowed up by Christmas! I have linked up my cake I made for Christmas, slightly late but you know what its like, took me a while to find time to write it up. Looking forward to #Bakeoftheweek 2017. Chonnie xx

what a fabulous looking cake! I wish I could be so precise and artistic when it comes to cakes but I am of the “slapdash school of baking” Usually tastes ok though! x
