Please tell me its totally fine to start Christmas baking with a vengeance? I'm loving pottering around the kitchen at the moment. The days are so dark and cold here in Merseyside so my kitchen is a haven with lights & heating on full belt. I know this Mincemeat & Marzipan Wreath isn't the prettiest or neatest, but its not for anyone else. Totally a quick bake that me & Mr C enjoyed at the end of the day. We really are run off our feet this year with Millie's training, Vi & Tara's dance rehearsals not to mention homework/Mock GCSE's and after school activities.
I've included a 'how to guide' for achieving this rather messy rustic look but obviously there are all sorts of combinations of how to make a pastry wreath. As usual, I went totally overboard with how much mincemeat & marzipan I added so if you are hoping for a neater finish, then perhaps hold back. For me though, it was all about the taste.

I am not a big fan of marzipan but I do love a good mince pie. This wreath looks fab and not messy at all

Thank you Natasha - Yes it definitely still tastes good without the marzipan. The lemon zest gives it a zing!
Now that looks interesting. I bet it tastes great and very festive with a cup of tea
Ooh yes a good strong cuppa is a must!
Marzipan is my all time favourite Christmas food ever! This sounds delicious! Even better, nobody else in my house likes it so I get to eat it all!
My favourite food too! I have to limit my intake during the Christmas period or I'd have no teeth left.
It looks as tasty as one of our fruitcakes here in the States! I always end up doing apple pie however....
Haven't had apple pie for ages but now you've mentioned it!
Oh my how tasty does this look! You have me feeling all festive and hungry lol x
Doesn't take me much to get into the festive spirit but this definitely does work x
I would never of thought of the mince meat and marzipan combo but it does look inviting
Ooh hope you like it - I love the combo of them both.
How very creative is this mincemeat wreath I love the idea of it though I don't actually eat mince pies myself.
Ah thank you for your kind words.
I bet that smells amazing when it's baking! What a great idea.
Oh yes - You've gotta love the smell of Christmas baking!
What a perfect dessert for the Christmas table! It reminds me a little bit of the German Stollen, which has a lot of marzipan in it. Can't believe how easy it is to make!
I do love Stollen too but this wreath is so much quicker!
These look so yummy! Such a clear recipe to follow, thanks for sharing x
Mincemeat and marzipan wreath sounds like a fun one to attempt with my son. I can’t remember the last time I had marzipan x
There are so many ways that you can play around with pastry with your son and just add mincemeat & marzipan at the end. Have fun!
my goodness this looks so perfect for Christmas! I would love to make this for my family as its one of my families favourites
Ooh it would make a brilliant striking table centrepiece - No-one need know how easy it is!
This really does look delicious, I much prefer a rustic look too it is much more real. I might just give this a go over Crimbo.
Thanks Lucy. I can definitely do rustic! Hope you like the end result when you have a go x
I'm ashamed to admit how many mince pies I eat at this time of year! This wreath both looks and sounds delicious, I'm going to give it a go!
Ha! I would hate to add up my total too. I know my husband started eating mince pies in October!
Loving this mincemeat and marzipan wreath. Fab idea and a delicious combination too.
Thanks Choclette - I love the flavour combination and also how easy it is to create!
Oh what a festive treat! My dad starts eating mince pies as soon as they hit the shops xxx
Us too! My husband bought his first pack of mince pies the same time he was buying our pumpkin for Halloween! x
Thank you for featuring my Vegan Chocolate Orange Loaf Cake 🙂 I love mincemeat and your wreath would be a great centerpiece for a gathering over the festive period x
You are very welcome - Loved the look and sound of your loaf!
Wow Helen that looks and sounds amazing! Linking up my turkey, pheasant and cranberry pie! Merry Christmas to you and your family xxx
