Volkswagon Caravanette Camper Van 30th Birthday Cake

Well this is the first post…it can only get more interesting from here! I have chosen for the first pic my last week’s cake which happened to be my husband’s 30th cake (Not all my cakes will be family’s promise!) This was a sponge cake shaped to look like the Volkswagon Caravanette van which will probably be the closest he ever gets to owning one! The sad thing about this cake is it won’t even get eaten as he has decided not to cut into it but to display it in his shop – Not sure how I feel about that!

Edit: We are now almost 10 years on & I can safely safe the cake is no longer on display in the shop! Mr C still loves looking at Caravanettes and Camper Vans (& I think still secretly would love a weekend away in one) but 3 daughters in such a confined space may not be the wisest idea.

We are approaching Mr C’s 40th birthday (where did those years go?) – I’ve been told that he is not expecting a cake for his 40th but maybe I should just do an updated version of this with all our heads popping out of the window? Watch this space!

That cake is adorable! But I would want to eat it! Thanks for entering my contest. You have two tickets in the hat. If you write a post with a link back to my post, you get 5 more tickets! Just let me know! And if you have any bloggy questions, I’m no expert but, I’ll try to answer them for you. Good luck!

Ahh represent VWs!! I drive a Jetta and my boyfriend wants a van like this one!For my cupcakes I use an ice cream scoop with a lever handle (< HREF="http://www.amazon.com/Good-Grips-Trigger-Cream-Scoop/dp/B00004OCIW/ref=pd_bbs_sr_4?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1205181442&sr=8-4" REL="nofollow">like this one<>). The scoop holds 1/3 cup of batter and I usually put ALMOST a whole scoop in each cup. It ends up making the cupcakes about 1/2 full with batter (maybe a little more).
