Marzipan Mince Palmiers

The truth is, it will probably take longer to write up this recipe than it did to make it. I know you are probably looking at the photos, thinking how unpretty they are but they are emergency mince pies, remember. Its how they taste and quite frankly, they tasted great!

Perfect for if you get a call letting you know unexpected visitors are on their way and much tastier than traditional shop bought mince pies.

I used almost a full jar of mincemeat for these – you could probably get away with using just 1/2 a jar if you are wanting to be more frugal.

20 MINUTE MARZIPAN MINCE PALMIERS

OccasionChristmas

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 packet Ready Rolled Puff Pastry (Remove from the fridge 10 minutes before use)
  • 1 jar Luxury Mincemeat (Or 1/2 a jar if you are being economical)
  • 1 Orange (Grated Zest)
  • 100g Marzipan

NOTE

These Palmiers are best eaten on the same day

DIRECTIONS

1.
Preheat the oven to 220C and line 2 baking trays with baking parchment (TIP: You can use the paper that the ready roll pastry comes on as baking parchment!)
2.
Roll the pastry out flat and spread mincemeat evenly over the surface
3.
Grate the orange zest and marzipan over the top of the mincemeat
4.
Roll the long sides of the pastry towards the middle so you get 2 rolls joined together
5.
To make it easier to chop you can place back in the fridge for 10 minutes but if you are in a rush, the recipe will work without doing this
6.
Chop into 1 cm wide slices and place at even intervals on the baking trays
7.
Bake for 14-16 minutes until puffed and golden
8.
Cool on a wire rack and sprinkle with icing sugar

What a fabulous recipe. I’ve just potted up my mincemeat and I’m off to a party on Sunday, so I think a plateful of these are in order.

These look lovely! I’m a mince pie novice as I always hated them as a child but these days I’ve definitely acquired a taste for them! Perfect for Christmas x

I love marzipan and this is a great way to use up a jar of leftover mincemeat – or even buy one for!

I have made these a couple of times now. I used the 12 X 12 inch puff sheets, bit thin but they tasted great, so second time I used two sheets fruit mince pastry sheet then grated marzipan and zest ontop and rolled together in shape. Next time now that I’ve kinda have mastered making my own puff it can rolled to the best thickness…

Hi Lindi, thanks so much for your feedback. I’m super impressed that you have made your own puff – On my list to do but not quite got round to yet!

It is almond paste (used to cover fruit cakes mainly). The most glorious thing ever!

I made these and they are delicious. I froze some and they tasted just as good eaten cold after they thawed. They store well in the refrigerator as well.
    So simple and tasty
