Its been a funny old week. We’ve had a bit of a wake up call, 2 out of 3 of the kids have been poorly and its knocked our routine out completely. I will admit, it has been lovely to spend 2 days at home with little Tara, even though her temperature was sky high.
Millie though, has suffered but had to keep on going. She’s had early nights and missed 2 training sessions. Its made us think that perhaps we are burning the candle at both ends and perhaps not looking after ourselves as best we can.
We’ve definitely let our eating habits slip – I’m embarrassed to say, as a food blogger, that the children have eaten far too many pizzas and convenience foods recently. We are not a family to indulge in takeaways very often, but fast food has not always meant good food recently.
We have been able to carry on with our Glorious Soups project though. You may remember that we have been working with Glorious Soups for the past few months. We don’t always have time to make our Dipping Bread Fingers, but we can at least make sure that we are getting goodness, strong tastes and low fat options in some of our meals.
This month, we have carried on exploring the Skinnylicious range of Glorious Soups – The soup pictured is New England Butternut Squash. This has a great taste of cumin, brightening up what could otherwise be quite a boring Butternut Squash taste.
The Skinnylicious Soups have under 2% fat per portion and under 150 calories per bowl too – I will admit to starting to think about our summer holidays, when I want to be comfortable parading around in a cozzy (Alright, perhaps not parading around, but I’m definitely not the type to hide away!).
I like that it is an easy, quick and tasty way of getting one of our 5 a day. My NY resolution to have at least 5 a day has sadly fell by the wayside lately.
I’ll be back later in the month with more ideas for accompaniments to go with your Glorious Soups but in the meantime, I’m going to focus on getting my babies back to fighting form!
