Well we are thoroughly back in the swing of the old routine – All the children are back to their out of school activities and homework is flooding in for all 3 of them, thick and fast. I had a couple of weeks away from joining in with Little Loves so thought it time for a catch up:
I’ve been reading LOADS! I’m on track with my Goodreads reading challenge for 2016 and am really enjoying getting stuck into my TBR pile. I am finding it useful to have a short list of what I plan to read next so I’m not left floundering after finishing a good book. I hate that empty ‘What to read next’ feeling.
I’ve finished the Quaker Cafe and The Tea Planter’s Wife (Reviews coming up at the end of January) and am making good way with Moving by Jenny Eclair. The Tea Planter’s Wife was just my sort of book and I just loved it.
One of our ultimate favourites to watch is back! We love Stella on Sky 1. I think its the 4th series now and its as funny as ever. Ruth Jones is a genius.
Also, the brilliant Call The Midwife is back on our screen too – We don’t get much chance to sit down together but always make an effort for these.
We are still ploughing our way through Masterchef, The Professionals – Can you tell we haven’t had much time to watch tv?
Ooh I’ve been busy! We’ve had proper meals this week and some baking too.
Even better, I’ve finally made progress with my #SkyBlanket2016. I’ve finally decided on my pattern – hexagons with an inner the same colour as the sky that day. I’m not sure how big it is going to work out but I can always add some plain cream hexagons if it needs more. I’m doing my blanket slightly different than most others – I’m not putting my hexagons in order of the days they appeared in. If we have a really awful patch of grey days, I want them dispersed evenly across the blanket.
I know I haven’t particularly chosen the easy option – I’m going to have sooo much joining up to dO and every hexagon has 4 ends to tie in. I’m being really good so far and doing them as I go along. I went to WI craft night last night and also perfected the magic circle technique so the hexagons are starting to look even better.
Its the Joe Browns Sale again! 2 dresses and 2 pairs of leggings. We’ve got a few events coming up and I’m going out a fair bit with the WI so happily I’ll get chance to wear them too!
Its the time of year when we need to choose solo music for Millie’s routine. Its so hard! Any tips are welcome – Needs to be around 2 minutes long and quite a dramatic ending – doesn’t have to classical and can have words. The video below is rubbish for watching but the music from last year’s solo is quite clear. This job takes HOURS of listening to various types of music every year and we are still nowhere near deciding on one.
Renovation at Casa Costello is well under way. I’m looking forward to being able to share our new living room and brightened up house. We are finally getting rid of Smock paint colour and going white with bright accessories – We’ve had such fun choosing our accessories and the rug and lamp have finally arrived this week! Exciting.
