Our conservatory is a shrine to dolls and babies. You can’t have 3 girls in the house without collecting a selection of babies. My girls have always loved playing with them – Its not about being stereotypical – Its just in them to want to role play. They have spent endless hours carrying them around, transferring them from one dolls’ pram to another and pretending to get them to sleep. If I ever answer the door to you whispering, you can bet that Tara is settling one of her babies down.
The problem is though, that some of these dolls are looking just a bit battered. They’ve been loved and punished for 13 years now and quite frankly it shows. They’ve had eyebrows drawn on (Tara), they’ve been dropped in mud (Violet) and bathed several hundreds of times (all 3 of them!) Not every doll has been suitable for bathing though and the mouldy spots appearing are rather disturbing. You know its bad when you can’t let the babies come with us for trips out in public.
When Asda approached me to tell them about heirloom toys, I knew exactly what I was going to talk about. My girls have got their love of babies and dolls from somewhere and thats me! When I first had Millie, I knew I wanted to her to have a Baby Annabell – So robust and versatile. Asda kindly sent us the Baby Annabell Deluxe Bath Set which is brilliant – Tara hasn’t put her down since opening her. Even better, she can be bathed without the dreaded mould appearing – and she can be seen in public!
The first think we did notice is Baby Annabell looks a slightly different colour to our other dolls – She is more matt rather than the pinky/orange glow. Thankfully Tara has no intentions of drawing all over her – I suspect the pen would not come off easily with a wet wipe!
She is so realistic – I’ve carried her all around Asda in Gloucester this weekend (She accompanied us to the National Synchronised Swimming Competition) and I cannot believe how many people did a double take, thinking she was a real baby. The dummy and tiny bath sponge are a huge hit as expected – The slipper need a bit of help from an adult to get on but are super cute.
It makes such a change to have a clean, dressed doll to take everywhere with us!
I would like to offer you the chance to win your own Baby Annabell Deluxe Bath Set or any other gift up to the value of £30 from the Toy Section too – Simply follow the instructions on the Rafflecopter to enter. Don’t forget to leave your comment at the bottom of this post rather than in the widget for a valid entry.
