  I had to take a week off Cake of the Week last week – Half term just had me beaten. But I wasn’t slacking on the work front. Oh No! Coming from St Helens, rugby cakes are always a popular choice. Our new, Saints Rugby League Stadium is due to open this month and you would have to be living in a hole not to feel the buzz in the town. In fact, the new stadium and a new footbridge that is being erected in the shape of a rugby ball nearly resulted in this cake not happening. Our only cake supplies shop is at the opposite end of town and is a pain to get to but sometimes needs must – and this was one of those times. The whole town was gridlocked last week as roads were closed for the new bridge – when you only have one car and 2 children needing to be at a party and 1 husband needing to be at work things get a little stressful.
