Wilkinson’s Corporate Cake – Cake of the Week

I haven’t posted a Corporate Cake for ages. I don’t do that many any more due to the edible printer giving up the ghost and I haven’t found a replacement yet. When I got the call about the cake, the brief was to include the word ‘Congratulations’ and the Wilkinson logo. I explained that I would have to paint the logo freehand and Kate was fine with this. Gulp! That means Reeeeaaaallly neat painting. The occasion was the Earlestown store having a revamp and at the Grand Reopening the longest serving member of staff was to be presented with the cake. No pressure there then! After getting very familiar with a Wilko’s carrier bag, I braved the logo using Brilliant White Food Dust and Gin for painting – I really do love painting on cakes. I hope the opening went well – Many Congratulations to Nina. The link is up as usual for entries to Cake of the Week – I’m expecting to see some Christmas goodies popping up very soon. Last week there was an entry from Karen of Lavender and Lovage with her Bobby’s Home Style Pancakes – I’ve seen a separate discussion on Twitter tonight as to more »

Cake of the Week – Saints Rugby Cake

I had to take a week off Cake of the Week last week – Half term just had me beaten. But I wasn’t slacking on the work front. Oh No! Coming from St Helens, rugby cakes are always a popular choice. Our new, Saints Rugby League Stadium is due to open this month and you would have to be living in a hole not to feel the buzz in the town. In fact, the new stadium and a new footbridge that is being erected in the shape of a rugby ball nearly resulted in this cake not happening. Our only cake supplies shop is at the opposite end of town and is a pain to get to but sometimes needs must – and this was one of those times. The whole town was gridlocked last week as roads were closed for the new bridge – when you only have one car and 2 children needing to be at a party and 1 husband needing to be at work things get a little stressful. But anyway… the cake. A sponge cake for a family I’ve done TONS of cakes for before. My brief was a rugby pitch and a man more »

Happy 100th Birthday to the Guides

The Girl Guides Association are celebrating 100 years of ‘service’(?) during 2009/2010. To mark the start of their year of celebrations an event was held bringing together the North West Division – and of course where there is a celebration there is a cake! This cake was enormous – it needed to serve 100+ – the board was 36″ x 24″ and those stars took forever! The other cake pictured was for the 50th birthday of the Brownies and Guildes pack that I used to be a member of – a LONG time ago! There is a guide dressed in the new uniform and a brownie dressed in the traditional dress – she has got 2 arms by the way – she is supposed to look like she is making her brownie promise! Happy birthday everyone – Lets hope they all get a birthday badge!

Corporate Cupcakes for St Helens Chamber of Commerce

This was an order from last week – St Helens Chamber which have been really helpful to me in setting up my business ordered 100 cupcakes with their new logo for the official re-launch of the Chamber. I love doing cupcakes with logos and photos as the images turn out really well and clear! Next week…wedding cake season starts with a bang!

Corporate Cake

One of this week’s orders – A cake to celebrate a local business moving premises into the Town Centre. The organisation is a Housing Organisation helping people into their own homes. The 2 figures are supposed to signify a couple who are happy to be getting their own house (well, I could see if even if other people may think they are just 2 people sitting on top of a cake!) The photo is not that great as it makes the logo look lobsided – I had to paint the little icon on the board which was really hard as the icing was still soft.
