One of my favourite posts to write of the entire year. I love looking back at the range of entries from all the woonderful bloggers that contributed to Bake of the Week during 2017. Last year saw me & Jenny from Mummy Mishaps join forces to work on #BakeoftheWeek together which makes life so much easier. It is definitely kinder to my waistline to only HAVE to bake every other week (although obviously I end up baking much more often). Our Top 10 bakes have a variety of sweet, savoury, seasonal and healthier bakes. I truly am amazed each week by the creativity of baking bloggers.
We really do want our little community to grow though. So if you get chance, spread the word about #BakeoftheWeek. You don’t have to be a baking expert to take part – Even first attempts at baking have featured on #BakeoftheWeek. Just a willingness to get in the kitchen and write about it is more than welcome in Bake of the Week. So let’s get on with our Top 10 Bakes of the Week of 2017!
I’m a huge fan of easy bakes. Busy lives often mean that we don’t get into the kitchen as much as we would like. Jane’s recipe encourages time short bakers who like flavour with added spices and tang from the marmalade. The picture itself sends me right back to hot summer months!
From start to finish in less than 30 minutes! Can’t beat a good scones recipe!
Marie from The English Kitchen had a super busy 2017 and still managed to produce this delicious sounding Apple Spice Cake. Her cookbook, The English Kitchen is available now and is quite frankly a wonderous work of art at 724 pages. I have a blog post coming very soon about the book.In the meantime, Marie’s Apple Spice Cake is perfect for any celebrations you have coming up.
We always tend to get a lot of seasonal recipes on Bake of the Week but occasionally a recipe comes along that I would be tempted to make all year round. I love the sound of Kirsty from Hijacked by Twins’ Turkey, Pheasnat & cranberry Pie – Full of meaty goodness but also plenty of veg for that wholesome feel.
I’ve made no secret of the fact that marzipan is one of my most favourite foods ever. I definitely don’t leave it just for the festive season so these Almond Rolls would be popular any time of year in this house. So pretty and again, so quick, taking just 35 minutes.
These bread rolls are a great recipe to have in any baker’s repertoire. The possibilities for fillings for these are endless. I think these might very well be one of my first bakes of the year. Great to have in the freezer.
How incredible do these sound and look? I love an extra flavour with chocolate and mint is just a perfect combination. Perfect for a healthier start to the New Year when you still fancy eating cake.
One of the best flavour combinations in the world, Raspberry & White Chocolate paired up with the joy of profiteroles. Beautifully presented with a pink icing and tangy freeze dried raspberries. Just divine!
Oh its getting really hard to choose between these last few. This is a recipe from October that has stuck in my mind for the past couple of months. Donuts are a really guilty pleasure of mine but some of the guilt is taken away by knowing these are baked not fried. Containing carrot cake and plenty of spices, these sound like utter joy!
And our winner – So beautiful (and I make no apologies for the fact it contains marzipan again!) The way the Gluten Free Alchemist transforms recipes to fit in with her daughter’s dietary needs astounds me. Definitely one of my favourite ever blogs and this recipe is just stunning. Well done to Kate for another year of hard work and pure talent.
