2 weeks ago, we gained a new member of our family. Our house has transformed back into the happy home it was before we lost our darling Darren, earlier in the summer. We always knew we would get another cat – We have too many cuddles available not to give them to a pet. We did want to wait for the right time though, when we would not be away so much. So we went to meet Alan the Kitten.
We had talked about the possibility of a grey fluffy kitten but when we met Alan the Kitten we simply fell in love. The family that he came from plainly love their cats. They were in no hurry to say goodbye to the kittens (There were 3 of them) and staggered them leaving their Mum. Alan came to live with us when he was 9 weeks old (He is 8 weeks in the picture above) and is 11 weeks old now.
He has settled in so well. This is a kitten that gets so many cuddles and is frankly quite exhausted during the day when his older sisters are at school. We have an argument every evening about whose room Alan is going to sleep in (Yep, my rule about no kitten in the bedrooms lasted about 10 minutes). Alan has had loads of visitors and thanks everyone for his presents – we are now overrun with fabric mice!
Alan is a Persian Cross Breed – Who needs a pure breed when you are THAT cute?! He does need to be brushed every day, which is Violet’s job. A job that she takes very seriously. I have heard that a lot of Persians get placed in care as their owners didn’t realise that they would have to do this job every day. I know it can be hard work (Violet has a few scratches to prove how much he enjoys a brushing) but that is so sad.
As I type, Alan is being wheeled around the house in a doll’s double buggy and is loving the attention. He is full of life and has a mad half hour several times a day. He has a favourite place to sit on my desk during the day, where the sun comes in. How did I ever manage without his company? We’ve even weighed him. You can see from the video above that it was hysterical but Alan was so laid back! Pretty safe to say we are totally besotted with him & look forward to many more years of fun and cuddles.
This post was written as part of #Blogtober17. A group of us bloggers are trying to blog our way through October. Visit HexMum to see some of the other posts. Today a lot of them are writing about themselves – I thought it was the best time to introduce our new family member.
Oh he is the cutest and I love his name. We always have human names for cats, it adds to their personality! x
I’ve never had a cat that hasn’t had a human name – I’ve heard of quite a few Colins this week too!
I love Alan the kitten! He is so adorable almost makes me want to have one. 🙂
Just almost?? You must really have resolve. He has settled in with us so well.
Aww! Isn’t he just adorable….What a lovely addition to the family.
I love pets with human names. hehehe x
I cannot believe he has only been with us for almost 3 weeks – He certainly knows his way around the house already!
Omg!!!!! How cute is he??? I have 3 cats and cannot imagine the house without them!!

Eek 3?! You are braver than me – although we do wish we could have taken his brother too …and then we would have felt guilty about not taking his sister!
I bet he’s going to get a lot of love and attention. Such a cute looking fella!
He is definitely never going to be short of attention! There’s so many of us queuing up to give cuddles!
Oh my goodness Allen are you just the cutest little fluffball ever! Welcome to your new family!
Isn’t he just the cutest? He looks massive already but when you pick him you realise he’s quite scrawny under all that fluff!
He looks so cute, I wouldn’t mind taking him home with me
Ha! You would have to get through all his bodyguards first! His big sisters are very protective 😉
Aww he’s so cute and Alan is a fab name for a kitten
Aah thank you! The only problem is I still keep calling him Darren so he will never get to know his real name!
Aw he’s a little cutie and I love the name. Enjoy him, kittens are so much fun!
As a cheetah owner and a also as a former domestic cat owner….please keep Alain indoors. He will always be safe if he stays inside. He is very pretty and Persians are great pets!
This is my first time to see a kitten as cute as this one! I am not a cal lover but I would definitely love to have one if someone will give me like this.
*Squeeee* Oh my goodness, he’s SO adorable!! He sounds like such a gentle soul as well! I have an extremely fluffy ginger cat called Bobby – he’s a sweetiepants too! They do take a fair bit of brushing though! <3 xxx
Ahhhh he is adorable. I would love a kitten but am content for cuddles with my friends white one called Alice at the moment
Oh that is a very cute name for a kitten too! We’ve never had a female kitten – I often wonder if their temperaments are vastly different.
Wow he is one of the most adorable kittens I have ever seen, he looks so fluffy x
Aah thank you (on Alan’s behalf)! He is super fluffy – hope he doesn’t start moulting too much!
Awwwwwwwww….I really want to leave a good comment but his little face makes me forget words exist…awwwwwwww ????
Alan in adorable – love kittens, but just do not have the time for animals at the moment 🙂 x
Welcome to your new family Alan, I’m sure you’ll be spoilt rotten.

OMG isn’t Alan the cutest!!!! He looks like a little ball of fur. Looks like you found the perfect little guy to give all those cuddles to.
I’m glad you found a new cat to love and cuddle, and I love that Violet is so serious about looking after the cat and doing the daily brushing
ah, so cute. I have two cats that we have had from kittens, I love how playful kittens are, but I do like that my older two now are content to snooze most of the evening
Allan looks so cute and so fluffy, adorable and perfect for petting. I hope you will enjoy the new member of the family and love him as much as he will love you.
What an absolute cutie pie! I think you’ve chosen a stunning little boy there and I hope you have many happy years together xx
Alan the kitten is a cutie! We’d love to get another rescue cat and give them a loving home x
He’s absolutely gorgeous! We had a kitten who can pretty much be Alan’s doppelganger, called Mittens, He had an innocent face, but he was a rascal! Alan looks just perfect!
He is GORGEOUS and he has the best name that I’ve ever heard for a cat – ever!! Alan – HA! Amazing.
Alan is SO cute and fluffy! I can’t deal! So sorry to hear that you lost your previous cat xx
Welcome to #Blogtober17, he is just the most cute kitten ever! I am not usually a cat fan (we are just about to get a puppy) but Alan is adorable.
