This post could also be known as, “What happens when you leave your 5yo and teenager alone with a new Sylvanian Family & a camera’.
As part of our relationship with Friends of Sylvanian Families, we received a surprise parcel yesterday. Tara opened with relish when she got home from school & was delighted with her new Chocolate Brown Labrador Family. Otherwise known as Charles, Camilla, Hector & Isabella – these are posh dogs you know!
The Chocolate Brown Labrador Family are one of a series of new characters being introduced by Sylvanian Families. There are stories about the characters and what they like and don’t like, over on the Sylvanian Families website.
I will admit that I was busily finishing off a cake order yesterday so asked Millie if she would take some pictures before letting Tara loose on the figures. I never expected that she would come back with pictures like these. They were there for hours, setting up scenes in our Sylvanian Family house – Unfortunately, our Sylvanian Family Caravan seems to have gone to heaven, otherwise I’m sure the dogs would have been taken on an adventure in the garden.
Our Sylvanian Family collection is fairly timeless – We have pieces that have lasted years. Our house is well used but like all toys, comes and goes in popularity. I do find that an injection of a new set of characters seems to bring the rest of the collection to life. Even after Tara had gone to bed last night, Violet was found in the conservatory playing away (They call it ‘sorting out’ when they are nearly 10!)
It led me to think about toys that we have in cupboards and whether they will be played again or forgotten about. Do you have any toys that you have had for years but come out periodically? How do you inject new life into them?
Disclosure: As already stated, we were sent the set of Chocolate Brown Labradors as part of our Friends of Sylvanian Families role. We were not asked to blog about them but how could I not use these pictures? This post contains an affiliate link.
